5-Axis Geometry and Machining Route Review

Submit complex packaging and food-equipment part drawings for a review of tool access, datums and the required manufacturing route.

Our Actual Machining Scope

Our Wuxi machining base focuses on CNC milling and turning. ZSCNC has no in-house 5-axis, EDM or wire-cutting equipment. This page explains how we review complex geometry; it does not offer an in-house 5-axis machining service.

Any additional process route, including external specialist work, requires separate confirmation of feasibility, inspection, cost and lead time before order acceptance. Availability is not assumed.

See our CNC milling scope and CNC turning scope for the primary processes at our base.

Features That Need a Process Review

Compound Surfaces and Angled Features

Identify the surface profile, access direction, critical angles and reference datums. Tool orientation requirements and available setups are reviewed against the complete geometry.

Deep Cavities and Undercuts

Provide pocket depth, internal radii and any inaccessible surfaces. Cutter reach, clamping and burr-removal access must be confirmed; 5-axis motion does not make every undercut accessible.

Multi-Face Mounting Interfaces

Define how bores, holes and mounting faces relate across the part. Setup changes and locating datums are assessed against the specified positional tolerances.

Thin Walls and Internal Passages

State wall thickness, surface requirements and inspection locations. Geometry, material and workholding determine whether the proposed route is suitable.

Information Needed to Confirm the Route

RequirementWhat to provide
GeometryCurrent 3D model and dimensioned 2D drawing with revision.
Datums and fitsCritical hole positions, profile tolerances, mounting interfaces and assembly requirements.
Material and finishingExact grade, stock condition, hardness, surface texture and secondary finishing requirements.
InspectionMeasurement datums, accessible checking locations and required reporting scope.
Commercial scopePrototype or batch quantity, delivery destination and requested schedule.

No universal tolerance, one-setup completion or performance improvement is assumed. A quotation follows the confirmed process and inspection route.

Materials, Surface Condition and Documentation

The customer specifies the material grade and intended application. Stainless steel, aluminum or an engineering polymer does not automatically establish food-contact suitability, chemical compatibility or regulatory compliance.

Request material certificates, heat-number traceability and any application-specific documents in the RFQ. Availability is confirmed for the selected stock and order. Surface finish and burr acceptance should be defined on the drawing; cleaning effectiveness and equipment function require customer validation.

Inspection of Complex Parts

Agree how profile, hole position, runout, surface texture and inaccessible features will be checked before production. Inspection equipment access and reporting are confirmed for the specific geometry, rather than inferred from a general capability statement.

See our drawing-based quality inspection information. Parts for packaging equipment and filling machines remain subject to the approved design and agreed acceptance criteria.

Send a Complex-Part RFQ

Attach the current drawings, quantity and critical requirements. We will review whether our CNC milling and turning scope fits the part and identify any process requirements needing separate confirmation.
