Drainage geometry, the seal design, bearing and shaft interfaces, cleaning conditions and maintenance access all belong in that review. Neither a stainless material designation nor a smooth exterior establishes an ingress rating or hygienic certification.

ZSCNC supplies drawing-based machined components. Our Wuxi base focuses on CNC milling and turning, with no in-house 5-axis, EDM or wire-cutting equipment. The equipment designer defines the housing design and validates its service performance.

Define the Actual Washdown Conditions

Cleaning chemicals, concentration, temperature and exposure time.

Spray pressure, nozzle distance and likely direction at the housing.

Installed orientation, adjoining structure and cleaning access.

Seal and bearing specifications, shaft speed, load and lubrication requirements.

Do not substitute a generic washdown-pressure range for the equipment’s actual cleaning instructions. A custom housing alone does not establish IP69K or any other complete-assembly ingress rating.

Review Drainage in the Installed Position

Identify horizontal ledges, mounting recesses, cover joints and spaces beneath the housing where liquid or residue may remain. Consider drain paths and access for cleaning within the approved design. A sloped exterior should be evaluated in its installed orientation rather than assumed to be self-draining.

Any proposed change to a mounting foot, pocket, relief or hole requires designer approval. Opening a drain in the wrong place can conflict with sealing, lubrication or structural requirements. See our drawing-based 316L bearing housings.

Distinguish the Housing Seal Seat From the Shaft Counterface

A drawing should identify whether a feature locates a seal body, supports a static gasket or provides a moving seal’s counterface. These interfaces have different functions. The rotating lip may run on a shaft or sleeve; it should not automatically be described as running on the housing bore.

Seal seat: specify the seal type, seating diameter, shoulder, depth and required fit.

Counterface: specify material, hardness where needed, surface texture, machining direction and wear acceptance from the selected seal requirements.

Alignment: define datum references and the required runout or position check for the actual assembly.

Entry edges: define permitted chamfers or radii and burr acceptance so installation does not damage the seal.

No universal 0.02 mm runout limit, bore fit or Ra range applies to every housing. Use the approved drawing and seal manufacturer’s requirements, including how and where each characteristic will be measured.

Inspect the Machined Part and Validate the Assembly Separately

For part acceptance, identify the bearing bore, seal seat, mounting base, locating pattern and shaft-center-height requirements. Agree inspection methods and reporting before manufacture. Check specified edge conditions and accessible passages after finishing.

For assembly acceptance, the equipment owner should define applicable leakage, washdown, operating and cleaning checks. Dimensional inspection of a bare housing cannot establish that the complete bearing assembly is water-tight or will reach a particular service life.

EHEDG’s published test-method scope distinguishes hygienic equipment testing from performance in a specific application. Do not treat a machined housing as certified equipment or infer validated cleaning performance from surface roughness alone.

Replacement Housing RFQ Checklist

Approved housing and mating-part drawings with revisions.

Seal and bearing part numbers, shaft or sleeve details and mounting interfaces.

Exact material grade, finish and required material documents.

Datums, fits, surface-texture locations, edges and inspection scope.

Installed orientation, cleaning conditions, quantity and delivery requirements.

A worn sample can support review, but wear, damage and reconstructed dimensions need approval before manufacture. A replacement is not promised to be a direct drop-in fit without mating information and validation. Material certificates and heat traceability must be requested; availability is confirmed for the order.

Review our stainless steel requirements, CNC turning scope and inspection information, or send drawings for a quote.

Technical Reference

EHEDG: Test methods — equipment-test scope and application limitations.

Review drainage, seal seats, shaft counterfaces and drawing-based inspection for washdown bearing housings.
